Happy health centre news

DURING indeterminate times, when there are many things about which to be perturbed, it is a great pleasure to read good news.

Such news is contained in the professionally-produced newsletter of the Marsden Road Health Centre.

Over many years, the residents of Horsley Hill ward have looked upon the Health Centre, with its excellent and well-liked staff, together with the closely situated Vantage Pharmacy, to be community assets.

Therefore, it came as a shock to learn of the proposed placing of the borough’s medical practices in the new development at Prince Edward Road.

Happily, the newsletter confirms that our health centre is now to stay at Horsley Hill.

Had it been moved, there would also have been repercussions affecting the viability of our splendid pharmacy. Now, however, that would also seem to be secured.

It is doubly pleasing, therefore, to learn that the pleasure felt by the residents of Horsley Hill Ward is also felt by council leader Coun Iain Malcolm, as reported in Angela Reed’s succinct article in the Gazette of June 5, 2009.

It is profoundly gratifying that the talks, initiated by the practice between Independent ward councillor and ward resident Gordon Finch, Independent Alliance leader Jane Branley and the practice management, held on April 21 at the practice, have resulted in such a pleasing and mutually satisfying outcome.
