State-of-the-art primary care centre planned for Northwich

Plans for a much needed new primary care premises in Northwich, Cheshire have moved a step closer after Central and Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust selected Assura as preferred development partner.

The proposed facility will accommodate the 25 GPs from the Danebridge, Middlewich and Witton Street surgeries who will relocate from cramped and outdated buildings once construction is completed.

By relocating from their existing buildings, the GPs will be able to offer an expanded range of services and will be co-located alongside community and shared facilities including district nurses, health visitors, dentistry and diagnostic services. The building will also feature a community cafe.

Sue Noyce, Project Lead for the PCT, said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Assura to this project.


“The team put forward a very strong bid and we were particularly impressed by their enthusiasm for working with local people to ensure that the new facilities are a real asset to Northwich.”

Tom Cooke, development manager from Assura, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Central and Eastern Cheshire PCT on yet another major primary care centre which will greatly benefit the local community by bringing a range of services closer to patients’ homes.

“This primary care centre for Northwich represents the ninth health facility in which Assura has invested in within Central and Eastern Cheshire; they include centres in Barnton, Crewe, Macclesfield, Nantwich, Sandbach and Winsford.”
